Managerial - Student Support/Operations Manager (Managerial Tier C)

Role Overview:
Community Academy of Science and Health (CASH) is seeking a Student Support/Operations Manager to serve as a member of the Wellness and Student Support Team, with a focus on student safety, support and discipline. This role will help lead the Student Support Team to develop positive, engaging programs and activities at CASH that promote our Wellness and Safety Guidelines. Manage work alongside the school's Family Liaisons and Support Staff to ensure the safety of the CASH community while building a positive, inclusive and restorative justice-based school culture and collaborate with community-based organizations that offer youth development opportunities for CASH students.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist the School Leadership Team in the overall operations of the school, which include but are not limited to:
  • The opening of school on a daily basis
  • Designate administrative duties throughout the building: meals, transitions, and transportation
  • Lead, manage and oversee all aspects of student discipline at CASH including: ensuring the BPS Code of Conduct is implemented with fidelity, including protecting the due process rights of students, families, and staff; tracking discipline referrals from teachers and preparing and analyzing data; creating intervention strategies and follow-up plans; and maintaining appropriate student discipline records.
  • Serve as a Hearing Officer for infractions of the CASH Code of Conduct and as liaison to BPS in all matters regarding student conduct, including working directly with BPS Operational Leaders, School Safety personnel, Boston Police, and any other agency involved in safety and school discipline matters.
  • Prepare all bullying reports, equity reports, long-term suspension and expulsion hearing forms and CIC packets for Head of School approval.
  • Serve as a member of the Administrative and Leadership Teams, bringing a student safety and support lens to our discussions and decisions.
  • Work collaboratively with the School Leaders and Wellness Team members to establish consistent protocols and procedures to respond to disruptions to learning.
  • Collaborate with SST team to create and maintain intervention plans that support students' re-engagement in learning and capacity to build positive relationships with community members
  • Communicate effectively with parents/caregivers/families of students to support positive behaviors from students.
  • Collaborate with our SST Leader/ School Social Worker to support students proactively and in keeping with CASH's commitment to restorative justice and our ongoing focus on Restorative Justice practices.
  • Serve as mentor or our students as a facilitator of a student support group; participation in Community Culture Committee and other student events as needed or required.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Head of School.

  • Demonstrated leadership qualities, interpersonal skills, and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with diverse students, staff, partners, and families
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive and lead in a multicultural atmosphere where respect and ethical behavior are pervasive
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and organizational skills
Qualification - Required:
  • Education: Associate's Degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5 years at an urban school in a role directly working with students
  • Demonstrated success working with Youth of Color in a school setting
  • Experience with BPS Code of Conduct and strong ability to implement it fairly and faithfully
  • Current authorization to work in the United States - Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment
Qualifications - Preferred:
  • Master's Degree
  • Fluent or proficient in Haitian Creole

Terms: Managerial Tier C

School-based managerial employees will work 223 days between July 1st and June 30th each year. The 223 day work-year will include the 180 days in which school is in session, and the additional days will be determined by the employee and the principal or head of the school. Page 2 of 3 School-based managerial employees are not eligible for vacation time or compensatory time. In the event of school cancellation due to snow or inclement weather, school-based managerial employees need not report to work.
