Position Overview:

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Junior Associate Labor Law Attorney to join our New York office. The ideal candidate will have a foundational understanding of New York Labor Law and an eagerness to grow their litigation skills in a dynamic environment. New York Labor Law is a statute that impacts defense of personal injury cases in NY. This is an excellent opportunity for a junior attorney to gain hands-on experience with labor law cases, working under the mentorship of experienced attorneys while managing their own caseload.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in handling New York Labor Law cases, focusing on Sections 200, 240(1), and 241(6).
  • Support senior attorneys in all phases of litigation, including discovery, legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, and briefs.
  • Attend court appearances, depositions, and client meetings.
  • Conduct legal research and analyze case law to provide strategic recommendations.
  • Review case files and prepare detailed reports for senior attorneys and clients.
  • Assist with settlement negotiations and mediations as needed.
  • Stay up-to-date with developments in New York Labor Law and related regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the New York State Bar.
  • 2-8 years of experience in labor law litigation or a related field (recent graduates with relevant internships or clerkships will also be considered).
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop litigation skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis) and case management software.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with New York Labor Law Sections 200, 240(1), and 241(6).
  • Experience with construction accident claims or workplace injury litigation.
