What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intake Caseworker position at Boulder County?


Housing and Human Services of Boulder County is hiring Two Intake Caseworker's.  Human Services Caseworker B is the journey level classification in the Human Services Caseworker series. The Human Services Caseworker B performs a variety of complex professional social work duties in Human Services Department program areas such as child abuse and neglect, youth-in conflictadults unable to protect their own interests, recruitment and supervision of foster homes and placement into foster and adoptive homes.

Work hours are Monday - Friday from 8:00am - 4:30pm.  This position will work in Boulder, CO.  Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.  

Hiring Salary Range:  $50,652 - $61,806 
Classification Salary Range:  $50,652.00 - $72,960.00 Annually

Tentative Hiring Timeline:
  • Phone Screening: June 23rd
  • First Round Interviews:  June 28th
  • Second Round Interviews:  July 6th
  • Reference Checks:  July 6th
 
  1. Conducts investigations of alleged child abuse and neglect, determines if children should be placed outside the home, monitors foster care placement and parental visits and determines when and if recommendation will be made to return children to home
  2. Develops effective case plans, provides counseling services to families, assesses new child abuse or re-abuse complaints and provides crisis intervention, when needed
  3. Provides intake assessment and evaluation, ongoing counseling services and case planning
  4. Locates foster care placement appropriate to client's needs and monitors client's progress in placement
  5. Makes home visits with clients, provides information regarding available services and coordinates the provision of the services
  6. Testifies in court regarding ongoing cases and makes recommendations on abuse and neglect cases, placement of children, guardianship of adults, and custody investigations
  7. Recruits new foster and adoptive homes, conducts home studies and monitors quality of care provided in foster homes
  8. Performs related work, as required
  9. May be reassigned in emergency situations

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Boulder County is looking for well-qualified candidates to fill our positions. In this position, we are looking for a minimum of 1 year of caseworker experience and a Bachelor's Degree in a human behavioral science, services or related field.  Additional related education may apply toward required experience.

Bilingual in Spanish and English
