YOGA & FITNESS COORDINATOR
The Yoga & Fitness Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and management of yoga and fitness programming at Seattle Bouldering Project University District. This role is for a leader that will thrive on building an innovating yoga program in Bouldering Projects newest location.
The coordinator will recruit and hire new instructors and determine yoga and fitness programming that fits the needs of the University District community. The coordinator will set up and maintain efficient systems for instructors, communicate BP expectations for safety, quality, and experience, and coordinate with other departmental leaders to ensure the fitness and yoga spaces are cleaned and maintained. The yoga and fitness coordinator will work closely with each general manager to deliver accessible, fun, and innovative fitness offerings at Seattle Bouldering Project.
This is an hourly part-time administrative/leadership position. The Yoga and Fitness coordinator may become full time with added instruction hours.
\n- Maintain accessible and quality yoga and fitness programming, with input and guidance from the General Manager and Head of Product
- Ensure high quality yoga and fitness classes in line with BP yoga and fitness point of view and expectations
- Develop an efficient and functional system for sourcing and scheduling subs for classes. Review, communicate, and enforce instructor subbing policy
- Develop and maintain tracking systems for class participants, consolidated and accessible by GMs
- Teach a minimum of three permanent classes per week across multiple formats.
- Teach a minimum of one themed class or workshop monthly.
- Offer special classes or workshops and maintain monthly wellness nights
- Collaborate and engage in marketing and events to drive interest in Yoga and Fitness.
- Craft a class and workshop schedule that meets the needs of our community within a provided labor budget
- Reconcile class rosters, keeping track of attendance metrics and process no-shows.
- Strive for a balance of class types offered at varying times of the day
- Keep the instructor schedule up to date in the online scheduling system
- Update class offerings seasonally to align with changing needs and traffic
- Maintain the internal calendar of classes and events in Approach
- Consider member feedback when adjusting schedule and content
- Support instructors to maintain motivation and job satisfaction via dynamic leadership and support
- Attend a minimum of two classes per week across varying instructors providing growth feedback each time.
- Interview, evaluate, hire, and manage the performance of yoga and fitness instructors
- Communicate BP yoga and fitness quality standards and expectations with instructors
- Communicate programming, gym updates, and additional relevant information with instructors regularly
- Establish and communicate expectations regarding attendance and timeliness with instructors, including an appropriate subbing policy
- Ensure the studios and equipment remain clean and functional
- Document instructions and expectations for studio / fitness area cleaning, and coordinate with appropriate managers and staff to create a cleaning schedule
- Coordinate necessary repairs
- Submit equipment orders as needed and within the budgeted resources
- Work closely with GM to track labor and equipment budget to actuals performance
- Review and respond to member feedback requests, and inform the GM of feedback trends
- Keep department managers and associated staff informed and up to date with programming/ facility needs
- Support incident reporting and reviews, safety reviews, emergency scenarios, and policy writing
- Address customer complaints, injuries in gym, and incidents in facility
- Flexible, versatile and ready to assist in all areas of the gym when needed.
- Maintain a high level of customer care
- Collaborate with GM and Marketing Team to market classes, workshops, and developing social media content as necessary
- Ensure classes/programs have enough emergency support through systems and notification sequences
- Act as a leader in the space and support leadership team as needed, in collaboration with the GM
- Attend regular 1 on 1s, leadership meetings, and staff meetings as needed
- Work with the GM to determine appropriate labor mix to maintain studio/facility cleanliness
- Work with the GM to set up appropriate communication structure (e.g. Slack) to communicate with instructors
- Certified to teach yoga and/or fitness (required)
- 3 years experience teaching group classes (required)
- 2 years experience managing studio or teams of 8 employees (desired)
