Position Overview : The Foundry Grinders role is to perform abrasive grinding on various steel and stainless steel castings.
Performing the grinding operation at various stages of the casting finishing process the grinder works with Finishing Leads, NDT and Dimensional inspectors to ensures that the finished surfaces meet the customers quality expectations.
Primary Responsibilities :
- Clean and prepare steal casting surfaces using various grinding tools and abrasives in support of the Finishing department’s safety, production, and quality goals.
- Use Pneumatic handheld Grinding tools to remove excess metal from steel castings
- Use pneumatic chipping hammers to remove sand, chills or other adhering objects for the casting surface.
- Transport, setup, and reposition castings using overhead cranes as needed.
- All roles in Bradken are required to have a focus on quality compliance by conducting quality observations, reporting any adverse observations or conditions (inadvertent or malicious) and to strive for a culture that prevents quality compliance violations occurring.
Qualifications :
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
Experience :
- Experience in a Production, industrial manufacturing, or Construction environment is required
- Previous experience operating grinders and other hand tools is desired
Physical Requirements :
- Must have the ability to use arms, hands, legs and feet in repetitive motions
- Must have the ability to change between sitting, standing, and kneeling positions
- Must have the ability to twist, stoop, bend, and stand in the performance of job duties
- Must have the ability to climb ladders or work at heights periodically
- Must have the ability to lift and carry 65 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds continuously
- Must have the ability to stand and walk on concrete floors and uneven surfaces for the duration of the work shift
Must be able to wear required respirators
- Must be able to withstand hot temperatures
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment
- Must have good vision and depth perception
Pay Range : $20.57 - $26.09 / hr (Depending on experience)
Shift : Monday-Friday, 6 : 00 AM - 2 : 30 PM and 2 : 00pm - 10 : 30pm (Must be available for OT if needed)
