Position: Plant Foreman

Reports To: Plant Manager

FLSA Status: Full Time

Location: Fairplay, CO

Pay Range: $25-$35 per hour depending on experience.

Brannan Companies is seeking an experienced Plant Foreman for our mining facility in Ft. Lupton, CO

Position Summary:

Supervise daily operational activities which include oversight of pit production, pit maintenance, and pit mining operations.

Position responsibilities include the following:

  • Lead by example on all safety rules/procedures and ensure that all employees under your direction are following established safety polices/procedures
  • LOTOTO procedures are followed on all equipment at the location
  • Encourage employees to participate in safety activities
  • Successfully implement company safety and environmental policies
  • Lead and direct production employees in all phases of the pit operations
  • Plan and conduct daily safety/operational meetings with employees under your supervision
  • Complete all reports and records as required
  • Responsible for the proper care, maintenance and location of all tools and equipment
  • Maintain good housekeeping throughout work area
  • Communicate any ideas that might reduce costs and/or improve overall production
  • Must be a competent operator; for training, relief, and lunch breaks.
  • Direct and assist in equipment maintenance and repairs
  • Ability to work with computer software such as Microsoft Word and perform general administrative duties related to plant reporting functions
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Interested candidates need to be self-motivated, flexible, and willing to learn
  • Ability to work in inclement weather conditions
  • Highly reliable team player and the ability to work well with others
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical, which will include a background check

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalency
  • 3-5 years previous supervisory experience

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must be able to complete pre-shift inspections and develop actions related to such
  • Must be able to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percentages, and read and interpret gauges, ratios, and read various equipment operation manuals
  • Comprehensive understanding of MSHA Rules and Standards
  • Must have base competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job including methods, materials, tools, and operation standards related to working in a mining environment
  • Ability to establish effective and diverse working relationships with other employees
  • Ability to identify and solve problems, develop action plans, and make decisions to resolve
  • Ability to understand and follow written and oral work instructions and work independently with little or no supervision
  • Must have the ability to plan, organize, and prepare accurate records related to the position
  • Daily inspection of all work areas in the pit.
  • Knowledge and understanding of operations and maintenance of heavy equipment.

Preferred Experience/Qualifications

  • Previous supervisory experience a plus including work in sand and gravel mining operations

Physical Requirements:

  • Capable of working outside in all weather conditions and in elevated areas.
  • Ability to walk, climb, grasp, stand, and balance.
  • Ability to lift objects of various dimensions and weights.
  • Ability to perform sustained overhead reaching.
