What are the responsibilities and job description for the Leadman position at Branscome?
Job Title : Paving Leadman Department : Paving Hampton Roads Reports to : Project Engineer Major Role and Purpose : Leads a crew to perform various tasks that are associated with heavy highway paving construction.
Description of Duties : Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all federal, state, local and company safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
Receive daily instruction from the project engineer. Assist in scheduling the field activities. Pass out flyers & notifications to residents when required.
Set out and retrieve notification signs. Place and remove gutter buddies. Set / adjust water valve and manhole structure to grade.
Clean up debris left by pavers / equipment on staging areas. Retrieving overnight and specialty signs left on job sites after production work is done.
Fill in for Flagging operations when needed. Fill in for paving and milling crews when needed. Inspect work to ensure it meets specifications and is on schedule.
Maintain daily records, crew timesheets, events, and conditions. Shoveling and raking of materials as required. This position requires the use of a company vehicle.
The driver would be responsible for the truck and maintenance. It will be parked in a designated location at the end of every shift.
Perform all other duties deemed necessary or assigned. Education : High School Diploma preferred. Work Experience : Previous heavy highway paving experience.
Knowledge in traffic control standards and safety. Communication and leadership skills. Overtime work may be required. Must possess a valid driver’s license with a positive driving record.
Physical Demands : Job requires the following motions : stretching, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, throwing, walking, standing, reaching and squatting.
Walking or standing may occupy the entire day. Able to lift up to 50 lbs. Potential exposure to extremes of hot or cold weather.
