Production Planner Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Ownership of demand fulfilment schedule based on forecast and inventory targets by coordinating production workflow.
· Develop master production plan using MRP to level loads demand requirements for optimum production levels.
· Responsible for releasing production work orders and raw material purchase schedules to meet production output plan.
· Develops schedule risk analysis, including potential constraints in raw material, machine capacity and direct hours. Recommends options for mitigating any such risks by using “what if” analysis in MRP.
· Supports Demand/forecast meetings with data on performance against schedules, supply plan to meet demand and potential constraints to forecasts.
· Manages and release purchase orders in support of production and inventory targets.
· Analyze competitive quotes from vendors.
· Hunt out new vendors, as required.
· Continues to look for ways to improve the production planning process.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Minimum 5 years of working with MRP in an ERP environment.
· BS/BA in supply chain, business or engineering.
· Prefer 2 years as production scheduler in machine shop environment.
· Strong working knowledge of manufacturing (machine shop) practices.
· Ability to analyze data and offer suggestions for improvement.
· Strong skills in communicating performance metrics and various types of analysis.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
· Self-motivated and ability to work with little direction.
