Responsibilities
Brasfield & Gorrie is seeking an MEP/Senior MEP Manager to lead the effort in planning, coordinating, and overseeing MEP related activities throughout all phases of preconstruction and construction. Specific scope responsibilities include mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, low voltage system, and fire sprinkler activities. They will work closely with all members of the project team, project executives and regional leadership teams to ensure project objectives are accomplished within quality control parameters, schedules, and performance.
- Develop and maintain relationships with engineers, design consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and owner’s representatives to ensure alignment with client goals and expectations from initiation to completion of the project
- Assist the preconstruction team in the development and evaluation of MEP scope and pricing
- Manage the solicitation and on-boarding of MEP contractors including the development of RFPs, bid leveling, contractor interviews, etc.
- Assist the project team to outline work plan, responsibilities, scope of authority and provide technical advice to resolve issues
- Assist scheduling team in developing detailed MEP installation activities, including resource loading
- Visit project sites assigned and provide site inspections of MEP installations
- Monitor for adherence to plans and specifications, contractual requirements, code compliance and compliance with industry standards such as ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, etc.
- Provide oversight of MEP installations to ensure quality control
- Monitor the start-up of MEP systems and manage the construction team’s involvement in the commissioning of building systems
- Schedule and monitor the HVAC Test & Balance process. Read reports, diagnose potential issues, and review those with the project team and mechanical contractor
- Monitor the performance of MEP trades and prepare appropriate reports to communicate with the project team
- Participate in the 3-D coordination/modeling process of MEP systems to resolve conflicts
- Conduct or participate in MEP training opportunities
Education - Skills - Knowledge - Qualifications & Experience
- 10 years of experience in Construction/MEP Coordination
- Thorough knowledge of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing and low voltage systems as well as the applicable codes and standards
- Thorough understanding of fire/life safety and fire sprinkler systems and the integration of same with mechanical, electrical, building systems
- Thorough understanding of the test and balance process and requirements
- Thorough understanding of building automation systems and sequences as it relates to MEP
- Ability to run complex meetings with multiple attendees and manage follow-up deliverables
- Ability to work on multiple projects and travel as needed
- Have proven track record as a Project Manager, Quality Control Manager, or MEP Superintendent on projects with values above $25 million (for Mechanical, Plumbing and Electrical portions of contracts)
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Plangrid, Procore, & BIM software
