The Administrative Services Supervisor exercises a leadership role in Zoo Administration, by managing the Zoo administration office and providing administrative, technical and secretarial support for all aspects of Zoo operations. Work involves much independent judgment and problem solving, as well as interaction with BREC staff and the general public in person, by telephone and through correspondence. This position prepares the accreditation application for submission to the Association of Zoos & Aquariums, as well as other AZA surveys. Scope of duties includes, but is not limited to: scheduling meetings, training & travel for Zoo staff; maintaining the Zoo Director’s calendar and correspondence; preparing for Zoo Advisory Committee meetings and providing administrative support to the Friends of the Baton Rouge Zoo. This position completes the Zoo’s Mid-Year and Annual Report to the BREC Commission and provides documentation for the CAPRA accreditation. This position prepares service agreements with Zoo vendors, obtains purchase orders and submits invoices for payment. In addition, this position is part of the Zoo’s event management team. The Administrative Services Supervisor supervises the Zoo Receptionist, the Zoo Registrar and the Zoo Budget Analyst.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Education Required: High School diploma or equivalent and Vo-Tech school diploma or Associate’s degree.Area of Study Required: Business Administration, Public Administration, or related.License(s) Required: Valid Louisiana Driver's License in good standingYears Relevant Work Experience: Three (3) years related work experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.Other Job Specifications: Supplemental training in computers and administrative workExperience in general clerical dutiesKnowledge and ability in modern office practices, procedures and equipment including word processing, desktop publishing and transcriptionKnowledge of business English and grammar with ability to compose routine office correspondenceAbility to perform basic mathematical calculationsExcellent public relations/interpersonal skills

Full time position. Generally 8 hours per day, 5 days per week; lunch break daily; overtime as required.
