Job Posting for Custodian at Brevard Academy: A Challenge Foundation Academy
Full-Time Custodian. 12 Month Position.
Position Summary:
Work independently to perform a variety of general custodial work in the care and maintenance of the school buildings and facilities. Work involves sweeping, mopping and using vacuum cleaners to clean floors; Disinfecting and cleaning surfaces; Cleaning toilets and restrooms; Restocking supplies; Emptying trash receptacles and picking up debris.
Qualification Requirements:
General knowledge of the standard methods, materials, and equipment employed in janitorial work.
Some knowledge of cleaning procedures and the use of cleaning materials.
Ability to follow instructions.
Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative in completing work assignments.
Has a proven attendance record.
Essential Duties:
Sweeps, mops, and vacuum floor surfaces.
Scrubs and cleans bathrooms, including toilets, mirrors, wash basins, urinals, commodes, slop sinks, etc. Fills tissue, towels, soap and other dispensers, disinfects areas as needed.
Empties trash receptacles; deposits recyclable material in proper receptacles.
Clean drinking fountains.
To assemble, set up and move furniture for events as required.
May open and secure buildings at start and end of workday, respectively; may turn on and off lights at start and end of day.
To clean and organize the storage room.
Performs related work as required.
Use of a computer for training and communication.
Special Requirements:
Must be physically able to operate vacuum cleaners, brooms, mops, and trash carts..
Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds overhead and regularly push, pull, and carry or otherwise move objects.
Requires stooping, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping and often repetitive motion.
Requires the ability to coordinate hands and eyes rapidly and accurately in using janitorial equipment. Requires the ability to handle a variety of items such as janitorial equipment and supplies.
