Summary
This is a full-time position that is responsible for support of control room operations in leak detection deployment and leak detection alarm analysis. Support Engineering and Field operations in planning and executing physical changes to pipeline system(s). Oversees leak detection of the pipelines by performing the following duties. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation.
Responsibilities
- Leak Detection Deployment:
- Collaborate with Engineering and Field Operations to prioritize segments of pipeline for leak detection deployment in accordance with regulations and the company’s integrity management efforts.
- Support Engineering and Field operations in planning and executing physical changes to pipeline system(s) to allow for leak detection implementation.
- Assist in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs), training materials, and compliance documentation related to leak detection.
- Stay abreast of advancements in leak detection technologies, industry best practices, and regulatory changes. Identify opportunities for improvements in leak detection and pipeline integrity.
- Analyze Leak Detection Alarms:
- Act swiftly to analyze real-time data and trends from various sources, such as pressure sensors, flow meters, and leak detection systems, to identify potential leaks and anomalies vs. false alarms from leak detection system.
- Review alarm reports regularly to identify potential improvements in alarms and alarm procedures
- Collaborate with control room leadership to propose operational and physical changes that could improve leak detection reliability.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of leak detection methodologies and implement best practices to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of leak detection systems.
- Collaborate with compliance personnel to address any compliance-related concerns and respond to regulatory inquiries or audits.
- In the event of a confirmed leak alarm, coordinate with operations and control room personnel to execute emergency response plans.
- Participate in Regular control room meetings and contribute to discussions on operational issues and improvements.
- Assist in the training and onboarding of new control room operators, particularly with regard to leak detection and hydraulics.
Qualifications
- An Associates degree in engineering or a related field (e.g., mechanical, chemical, petroleum with four (4) to six (6) years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
- Experience in pipeline control room operations, with a specific focus on leak detection.
- In-depth knowledge of leak detection technologies, methodologies, and industry best practices.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems, data analysis tools, and pipeline control software.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices (e.g., API 1130, 1161, 1165, 1167, 1168).
- Possession of a valid driver’s license.
- English language fluency, verbal and written.
- Acceptable results of a pre-employment background check and drug/alcohol test.
