ABOUT THIS ROLE
We seek an experienced Director, Human Resources with outstanding people skills reporting directly to the Head of Human Resources to ensure our HR programs and initiatives are effective, efficient, and aligned with overall business objectives. The role will be primarily responsible for supporting both the strategy and vision and managing the day-to-day tactical operations in our newly consolidated, small and hands-on HR group. You must be excited by helping to build, scale, improve, and innovate a newly consolidated HR team. This role supports a growing network of 8 entities. Additionally, the HR Director will oversee all aspects of payroll operations, systems, and reporting to optimize human resources processes and decision-making and ensure compliance with regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with the Head of Human Resources to implement HR strategies by supporting employment stages, processing, and compensation.
- Support organizational strategies by identifying and researching human resources issues.
- Support employee relations issues within the network.
- Support and guide management by providing human resources advice, counsel, and decisions, along with a deep understanding of company policies.
- Collaborate with HR business partners and stakeholders to identify process improvement and optimization opportunities.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices.
- Payroll Administration:
- Manage payroll operations, both hands-on as well as overseeing payroll processes, processing and reporting.
- Develop and implement payroll policies and procedures to ensure compliance and accuracy with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Benefits Administration:
- Administer employee benefits platforms.
- Assist with Open Enrollment communications, presentations, auditing, etc.
- Assist with annual benefit-related audits and HRIS system testing as needed.
- Compliance:
- Monitor and give direction on state and federal laws, state leaves, ADA, FMLA, Worker's Compensation, and other compliance-related matters.
Essential skills:
- At least 10 years of payroll experience
- At least 10 years of employee relations and generalist experience
- Must be able to thrive in a hands on growing environment
- Proven experience with benefit analytics, including knowledge of benefit laws and processes
- Proven experience overseeing payroll processes, including knowledge of payroll laws, regulations, and best practices
- Experience with HRIS systems ie., Paylocity, ADP, Rippling is a plus
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is a plus
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques
- Excellent collaboration skills and the ability to contribute within a team setting, including excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to lead and support a team of professionals
- Expert multitasking skills with the ability to handle multiple projects at once, work quickly and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment with high attention to detail
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities are a must, with a focus on driving continuous improvement and achieving organizational goals
- Ability to take initiative, maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion
- Comfortable building and scaling in a fast-growing organization
