Hello - we are a close knit team and our current controller is a rock star but she'd like to eventually pursue starting her own business some day so we're looking for someone to come in to assist her and learn from her in the short to mid term but eventually grow into a role that could potentially replace her in the future. We are a growing company and would love to have someone join our team that is dedicated, reliable, experienced and takes pride in their work! As the full-time assistant controller, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the smooth financial operations of our business. You will collaborate closely with our Controller to ensure compliance with financial regulations, analyze financial data, and contribute to strategic decision-making.
Responsibilities:
· Manage daily financial transactions, including accounts payable and accounts receivable.
· Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial records.
· Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in the company's accounting software.
· Prepare and process payroll, ensuring accurate calculation of wages, taxes, and deductions.
· Maintain and update employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, and changes to personal information.
· Address payroll-related inquiries and resolve discrepancies or issues promptly.
· Monitor and maintain inventory records.
· Collaborate with external auditors and tax professionals during annual audits and tax filings.
· Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations.
· Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance financial efficiency.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (if you have extensive hands on experience in the field, we will be open to other applicants as well).
· Proven experience 3-5 years working as a bookkeeper or accountant, preferably in a small business environment.
· Proficiency in QuickBooks Online accounting software.
· Experience with Paylocity payroll processing software is a plus.
· Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
· Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
· Ability to work independently and collaborate with a small team.
