ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe Seafood Shift Supervisor assists in the direction and coordination of department with sales, orders products, and assures customer service. He or she cuts, trims, bones, ties, and grinds seafood to portion and prepares seafood by cooking. The Seafood Shift Supervisor is also responsible for performing the following duties (other duties may be assigned): Leads by example; models correct behavior and adherence to company policies and procedures. Cuts, trims, and bones whole fish to reduce to cooking cuts such as steaks, and other desired portions. Cuts and weighs seafood to individual servings. Tends electric grinder to grind fish. Shapes and ties fish. Fills showcase once fish has been cut. Receives, inspects, and stores fish upon delivery. Records quantity of fish received. Assures that deliveries are put away and rotated. Responsible for monitoring department stock and for relaying conditions to the Seafood Manager. Assures back up of marinated and sale products. Monitors and assures adequate counter help to ensure customer service standards. Assures that customer special requests are met with excellence. Provides information to customers about all the different types of seafood and convenience and self serve items. Provides customers information about cooking products that are in showcase. Monitors the showcase from the front of the case to ensure full case. Assists the Seafood Manager with all Seafood Department responsibilities. Assist the Seafood Manager with ordering and receiving of products and proper invoice routing. Assumes all Seafood Department responsibilities in the absence of the Seafood Manager or Asst. Seafood Manager including but not limited to customer service, management, ordering, receiving of products and paperwork. Under the direction of the Seafood Manager, is responsible for in-service training for all employees, including training documentation. Assist the Seafood Manager & Asst. Seafood Manager with the maintaining the appropriate profit margin in accordance to approved pre-set budget, which entails, but is not limited to: sales goals, cost of goods, expenses, price changes and waste management. Helps manage costs by controlling shrink and theft. Maintains proper rotation of all perishable products. Responsible for all employees practicing the same techniques. Responsible for using the tools provided by management to ensure the success of the department. Engages and coaches others in suggestive selling techniques. Handles customer complaints in such a manner to assure customer satisfaction. In the absence of the Seafood Manager or Asst. Seafood Mgr., conducts accident investigations and completes necessary paperwork within accordance to Cal OSHA SB-198 including notifying the Manager on Duty of any accidents. Maintains clean and sanitary working conditions of all Seafood department areas, including, freezers, reach-ins, equipment, and surrounding areas. Knows all cleaning chemicals authorized in the Seafood area and understands proper usage. Trains & updates Seafood staff, on sanitation procedures & proper use of cleaning chemicals Follows the FIFOrotation system (First-in, First-out). Covers, labels, and dates all leftover foods. Utilizes leftover foods before opening new product. Inspects seafood; including measuring temperatures throughout the preparation process, to maintain quality and sanitation in accordance with the FDA and local health departmental codes and Bristol Farms’ stringent standards. Follows safety work standards and reports any safety hazards to supervisors and/or Store Director. Follows the employee handbook at all times, especially on service standards and appearance. At all times, meets and exceeds Bristol Farms standards in freshness, quality, sanitation, and cleanliness.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThe Seafood Shift Supervisor may be responsible for supervising a total of 1-6 employees in the Seafood Department during the absence of the Seafood Manager or Asst. Seafood Mgr. Customer Service Skills Seafood Shift Supervisors are expected to provide customer service that is extra ordinary and exceeds the expectations of our customers. They are required to follow established policies and guidelines that go beyond simply smiling and greeting customers. Going above and beyond encompasses attitudes, respect, and flexibility. Seafood Shift Supervisors are expected to have a positive “can-do” attitude; to treat others with respect; and easily adjust to changes in the workplace.
