Job Description:
The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality, visually appealing, nutritious meals and snacks while maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation and safety of the food preparation and storage environment, to include but not limited to responsibilities for: obtaining and maintaining a current and State-specific license to provide food service, food preparation, cleaning and sanitizing all surfaces, and post-meal cleaning, sanitation, and storage.

Location: Simpsonville, SC
Job Duties:
Follow the established dietician-approved menu for all meals (3 meals a day);
Obtain census for total number of meals needed and identify the number and type of modified diets for each meal;
Achieve the appropriate cooking and holding temperature for all cooked animal foods, vegetables and fruit according to FDA standards;
Prepare snacks on trays and place in the cooler for staff to disperse according to the programs schedule;
Ensure the storage of all food items, including labeling with the item identification, dating the item, and discarding food that passes the expiration date;
Sanitize the work surfaces using best-practice sanitation methods;
Prevent cross contamination by utilizing hand and utensil washing as required by State licensing standards;
Maintain compliance with proper food handling practices (i.e., gloves, hairnet)
Ensure the completion of all daily cleaning tasks per cleaning schedule and initial the cleaning schedule when the task is completed;
Report any problems with the equipment, menu, and supplies to the Director of Facilities Management;
Job Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED
At least 1 year of experience in food preparation and handling
Experience working in a healthcare facility such as assisted living, hospital cafeteria, etc. preferred
Food Handler’s Certificate preferred; Company will pay for online licensure
