Description
Under the direction of the Manager, Collection Development & Data, this position provides support for the systems and processes critical to the integrity of all data sets driving demand for Brodart products and services to include corrections, updates and coding as required.
- Responsible for data entry handling, or updating of data sets in Oracle to include assigning Dewey and/or LC classification numbers, appropriate subject headings, geographic and cultural designators, Fiction genres, age ranges for juvenile materials, etc., pursuant to established coding guidelines and Library of Congress conventions.
- Accountable for the maintenance and integrity of the data and performs final verification and approval of the records in the Brodart Title Database and Journal Reviews Oracle forms.
- Supports the Collection Development department in assisting with data corrections, updates, edits and issues for all programs as necessary.
- Participate in cross-functional problem-solving teams as required.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Associate's degree preferred or equivalent experience with in depth knowledge of bibliographic data.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Brodart systems and processes preferred.
- Microsoft Office Suite products(Excel, Access)
- Internet
- Information retrieval and research skills with knowledge of bibliographic data, cataloging and coding rules.
- Ability to maintain high levels of accuracy with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage time and prioritization of tasks to meet production goals.
