Responsibilities
Provides support in the administration of Brookdale Senior Living's workers compensation program. Works in a team environment, interacts with adjusters, providers, operations, regional HR representatives and insurance brokers and carriers as necessary.
Reviews all reported claims via on-line claims system provided by third party administrator and/or carrier on a daily basis.
Works directly with communities to review facts, identifies red flags, and/or issues of concern.
Assists community management with accident investigation and claim reporting.
Alerts management team to existence of claim, per guidelines.
Identifies potential high value claims or potential fraud claims and marks pending for follow-up and future strategy development.
Provides direction and training to community management on claims management issues.
Follows up with adjuster, and assists community management in following up to ensure claims are aggressively managed by third party administrator.
Performs wage verification calculations.
Approves claim reserves up to $40,000
Manages and assures the accuracy of claim reserves on a high deductible insurance program. ($1M in exposure per claim)
Monitors accuracy of the workers compensation allocation program (financial charge back system)
Performs file audits and periodic individual reviews of high value claims to ensure claim handling guidelines and best practices are adhered to.
Collaborates with Manager, third party administrator, and HR team to ensure return to work program is utilized.
Works with Manager and Workers Compensation team, cross-functionally, on workload allocation based on claim case load and complexity.
Partners with Communities to develop and promote a culture of safety.
Communicates with and train communities and regional leadership on safety policies and procedures
Provide monthly safety and OSHA trainings to communities
Analyzes, evaluates and provides regional management with scorecards and metrics to measure program success.
Completes on-site safety and OSHA inspections
Studies injury trends for the team to determine what areas should be identified as high risk for work on the workers comp focus project
Assists the Director of Workers Compensation with project management on team related projects and assignments
Responsible for managing outside vendor and internal partnerships
Maintains knowledge of new and existing relevant laws and regulations, taking appropriate action to ensure timely compliance and communication to appropriate departments.

Qualifications
Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree or equivalent experience required. 5 years of previous Workers Compensation or 3rd Party Adjuster experience required.
