Brooklyn Art Haus is a newly opening arts organization that will premier new and innovative productions. For our artistic community, our mission is to serve as an incubator, social environment, and performance space built for the longevity and success of artists and companies that maintain high standards and take risks with their projects. Café des Artistes is our Bar/Restaurant conjoined to Brooklyn Art Haus. Focusing on neo-Mediterranean fare, the café will be open for most daily hours to serve as a café, light lunch and dinner post, then drinks and late night bites.

We will be open 7 days a week! Our hours of operation are 9am- 12am Sunday - Wednesday and 9am - 2am Thursday - Friday!

We are looking for: Captains / Counter Attendants  (hourly great tips!) for availability starting May 22nd!

Job Summary: Assist in the success of the counter and bar with bar setup, help produce making drinks, leading task lists for prep and stocking. Taking orders at the register when possible. Answering guest questions to the best of your ability in line with Brooklyn Art Haus Standards. Maintain overall cleanliness and efficiency of the bar and surrounding areas throughout the shift. Maintain impeccable personal appearance and positivity in guest interactions.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Complete opening side work checklist for shift daily
• Greet customers immediately with a smile and present beverage menus
• Make recommendations and answer all menu inquiries
• Take orders from customers, ensuring 100% accuracy when entering orders into POS
• Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with standard recipes
• Peel, slice and pit fruit for garnishing beverages, following Company standards
• Follow responsible alcohol service guidelines, as outlined by Employee Handbook
• Process transactions using the POS system; Prepare checks for guests and process payments
• Maintain proper loss prevention standards including cash handling procedures, tip handling, cash deposits; Count the cash register at the start and close of each shift
• Maintain organization and aesthetic appeal of bar counter and displays
• Maintain sanitation to Department of Health standards; Keep work area clean and organized 
• Inform Manager on Duty immediately of any DOH or OSHA/workplace safety violations 
• Monitor inventory; restock bar inventory as needed; inform Management of any product or supply needs
• Deal with guest complaints by finding a way to say yes; Involve the Manager on Duty as needed
• Update knowledge and skills continually by participating in staff training opportunities
• Maintain general knowledge of Brooklyn Art Haus, location, transportation, Management team, etc.
• Complete other duties as assigned by Management
• Promote, work, and act in a manner consistent with the mission of Brooklyn Art Haus
• Check the draught beers to make sure kegs are functional; change kegs as needed, with a teammate, using proper lifting technique
• Maintain bar sanitation to Department of Health standards; Keep work area clean and organized

Qualifications:

• 2 years experience as a server or cashier preferably in a high-volume environment
• Able to communicate effectively with Guests, Managers and kitchen personnel
• Able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds
• Able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours)
