What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dental Office Associate position at Brooklyn Hospital Center?
- Performs a variety of patient care related activities including but not limited to:
- Monitors and documents quality controls of on-site laboratory testing.
- Maintains laboratory area, utility, storage and examination rooms clean and organized. Cleans and prepares all instruments for sterilization after use in accordance with Infection Control Guidelines.
- Assists with other patient functions as needed, and as determined by the age of patient, such as placing patients in examination rooms, assisting patients onto examination chair side, etc.
- Assists providers with examinations and treatments.
- Assures efficient and rapid patient flow at all times. Identifies obstacles, problems and assists in finding resolutions.
- Performs a variety of clerical/office support activities including but not limited to:
- Locates, requests and/or send and receive medical records between clinics and the Health Information Management Department, as needed, utilizing the Department's chart tracking system to
- Assists with scheduling appointment in Dentrix, filing, scanning electronic charts, answering telephones, etc.
- Makes appointments for consultation, specialty referrals, and other tests for patients, including managed care and/or third party coverage plans.
- Collects appropriate data necessary for billing process and information flow relevant to patient in managed care environment as needed.
- Orders and maintains par levels of dental, medial and other clinic supplies. Maintains adequate stock at all times.
- Requests repair of equipment when necessary.
- Maintains knowledge of billing and third party reimbursement policies and procedures.
- Ensures accurate and timely collection of patients' visit information at the time of registration and all relevant finance department policies are followed.
Performs other duties as maybe assigned.
