Join us as a Senior Tax Analyst Brown Brothers Harriman is currently recruiting a Senior Tax Analyst to join the tax department in our Global Controllers team. In this role you will be responsible for the accurate and timely filing of the firm’s federal, state and local partnership and composite tax returns. Responsibilities include preparation of tax returns, limited detail review of certain state tax returns, research and resolution of tax issues, tax planning, and communication with tax authorities. Some of your key responsibilities include: Tax Compliance Preparation, including data gathering, of complex U.S. federal (Forms 1065, 5471, 8858, 8865), state and local partnership tax returns, partner state composite tax returns, and other miscellaneous returns, including detailed supporting workpapers. Detail analysis and reconciliation of tax return supporting documentation and workpapers including book/tax adjustments and firm accounts/transactions to ensure proper treatment of income and expense items for tax purposes. Includes interacting with Controllers to verify accuracy of financial information and resolve any issues. Assist with detailed review of certain partnership state returns and related workpapers as needed. Preparation of quarterly and year end taxable income projections for the firm and partners, and monthly and year end partnership tax accruals. Preparation of quarterly estimated state tax payments and state tax return extension payments. Ensure timely and accurate filing and payment of all associated taxes, fees and quarterly estimated taxes and withholdings. Tax Research and Special Projects Conduct research of new laws, regulations and rulings and prepare technical tax memorandums. Monitor developments in laws to ensure reporting is in compliance with evolving tax laws, regulations and requirements, and assist in evaluating impact, if any, on the firm and partners. Tax Audits and Notices Resolution of notices/issues through correspondence with federal and/or state tax authorities. Assist with management of entity tax audits including gathering and preparation of information to respond to tax authority requests, and administrative tasks of the audits. Research any tax issues resulting from an audit and any current matters requiring resolution. Qualifications / Requirements Bachelor's degree in tax or accounting. 4-5 years relevant job experience, preferably in the tax department of a public accounting firm or financial services company. Extensive experience in book-to-tax reconciliation and preparing complex federal (Form 1065) and state partnership and composite income tax returns and relevant workpapers in excel. Experience with operating partnerships (vs investment partnerships) and/or corporation is preferable. Familiarity with international compliance reporting requirements (Forms 5471, 8858, 8865, and country by country reporting etc…) Advanced technical skills in the areas of partnership federal and multi-state taxation, and the continued strengthening of those skills through professional education and seminars. Proficient in ProSystems tax software and/or FastTax GoSystems, Microsoft Office and internet-based tax research services (CCH, BNA) Strong analytical skills and ability to work on projects requiring detailed analysis and documentation. CPA and/or M.S. in tax a plus. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced multi-tasking environment and prioritize. Highly organized and detail oriented. BBH’s compensation program includes base salary, discretionary bonuses, and profit-sharing. The anticipated base salary range for this role is $110,000 to $140,000, which is specific to New York, NY and may differ in other locations due to cost of living and labor considerations. Base salaries may vary based on factors such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.
