Brown Edwards is seeking a Technology Trainer to join our Firm support services team. The Technology Trainer is responsible for creating, coordinating, maintaining, and providing quality IT training services across the firm. The Technology Trainer will serve as the primary instructor for all current software applications and any future implementations and will coordinate training with vendors where necessary. The focus is to create a consistent and clear training program that will enable the firm to best leverage software packages.
What Your Day Looks Like
Job duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Conduct IT skills gap analysis among employees.
- Design technical manuals using simple, clear, and concise language.
- Perform role-specific training on tools and programs each service team uses daily.
- Train new employees on the proper use of hardware and software.
- Perform regular organization-wide training on security.
- Evaluate effectiveness of each training session.

New software or software addons:
- Coordinate demonstrations and meetings between vendor and BE professionals for software requests, including communications to team members.
- Coordinate pilot or trial groups assisting with selection of team members, providing communications to all parties.
- Compile feedback and report results to appropriate partners and meet with vendors to provide feedback and decisions.
- Develop list of professionals to receive licensing to assist vendor with cost proposal and coordinate proposal discussions.
- Obtain necessary SOC 1 or other related documents from vendors as required or requested, review and/or pass along to appropriate individuals.
- Review contract drafts and pass along to appropriate partners and/or directors and provide feedback to partners/directors prior to or simultaneously with their review.
- Coordinate, meet with and pass along information for our internal IT team to review.
- Coordinate and select champion teams where vendor training is limited to a small group.
- Work with Director of Learning to coordinate training between vendor and professionals.
- Ensure the firm is using software tools as effectively as possible. Stay on top of best practices for software programs the firm uses.
- Provide updates to the firm on software enhancements that could positively impact efficiency and effectiveness.
- Develop list of professionals to receive licensing, assist IT team with initial licensing and provide guidance on ongoing license assignment.
- Project license increases or decreases annually considering user needs and work with vendor on annual renewals and pricing reporting to CIO.
- Assist IT with license inquiries as needed.
- Connect with champion teams periodically to determine status, training needs, license needs or concerns, etc.
- Coordinate with Director of Learning and software champion teams on new hire, annual, update or other necessary software training.
- Meet with vendors periodically as vendor requests for software review, updates, etc. and coordinate meetings when internally requested or needed.
What You Need for This Role
- Associate’s Degree in Business, Training, or related field.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Training or related field.
- 3 years of training experience.
- Experience in a professional services environment preferred.
- Advanced level Microsoft Office Suite experience.
- LC Vista or other learning management software preferred.
- Relevant firm software experience preferred.
- Driven self-starter with a proactive approach to service professionals at all levels.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Maintains a high degree of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
- Professional demeanor and ability to work with all levels of firm personnel.
- Ability to balance and prioritize multiple responsibilities.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving ability.
- Ability to work independently.
- Knowledge of/familiarity with continuing professional education requirement a plus.
- Knowledge of logistics involved in training delivery a plus.
- Knowledge of DOL, AICPA, SEC, and/or yellowbook independence requirements a plus.
- Knowledge of GAAP, GAAS, and SSARS.
