What are the responsibilities and job description for the Materials Planner position at BRP?

In this exciting role, you will plan, release and monitor the delivery of materials and parts required for production; all to meet production schedules and keep inventories to a minimum using just-in-time principles. You will be at the heart of the action and work with suppliers and internal customers such as handling, transportation, supply, engineering and quality assurance teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Verifies manufacturing requirements and creates stocking strategies for inputs.
- Determines delivery schedule based off manufacturing requirements.
- Work closely with the Master Scheduler and Production Assistant to identify deficiencies in requirements and amend planning prior to production.
- Purchase and schedule production materials for the manufacturing facility.
- Initiates purchase orders to suppliers; confirms orders, verifies pricing, delivery.
- Prepares purchase orders by verifying specifications and price for MRO & Capex projects
- Proactively works with suppliers on past due orders and expedites.
- Establish recovery plans for suppliers and meet with them as needed.
- Analyze the best strategies to meet just-in-time objectives.
- Verifies receipt of items by comparing items received to items ordered; resolves any errors with supplier; forwards receiving documentation for payment.
- Primary contact with suppliers in communicating and coordinating the resolution to quality issues.
- Act as point of contact for daily issues supplier issue
- Coordinates as appropriate, engineering changes/developments.
- Work in conjunction with cross functional teams (i.e., Engineering, Production, Quality, Finance, etc.)
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Associate's Degree in Business Administration, Operations Management or Supply Chain management along with a minimum of 3 years of experience in purchasing, receiving or working as a stockroom clerk. Bachelor's degree preferred in Business Administration, Operations Management or Supply Chain management along with 0 - 1 year of experience.
- Manufacturing experience is a plus along with an understanding of multi level BOM's.
- In-depth knowledge of the Windows environment (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). ERP experience is a plus.
- Ability to work well independently.
- Ability to work under pressure in a changing environment.
- Excellent communicator, good analytical skills and negotiation skills.
- APICS certification is a plus.
