Position Description: The Body Shop Manager is responsible for developing business through insurance adjusters, customers and other sources to assure an adequate sales volume, provide a reasonable department operating profit, and maintain certain customer satisfaction standards while controlling expenses. The Body Shop Manager directs the activities of body shop employees in performing repairs, including meeting time schedules and productivity levels and maintaining quality standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
Manages one subordinate supervisor who supervises a total of 10 employees in the Body Shop Department. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Also directly supervises five non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Certificates, Licenses, & Registrations
Current, valid driver’s license; satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) with an insurable driving record as defined by our insurance carrier.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Forecast goals and objectives for the department.
- Understand and keep abreast of, and comply with, federal, state and local regulations that affect the body shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA right-to-know, safety equipment requirements, etc.
- Hire, train, motivate, counsel and monitor the performance of all body shop staff.
- Direct and schedule the activities of the body shop staff.
- Provide technical assistance as needed.
- Conduct meeting with body shop employees to discuss activities and problems of mutual interest.
- Monitor payroll.
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with several insurance adjusters.
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with customers to encourage repeat and referral business.
- Supervise all activities of and communication with the wrecker service.
- Quality check completed jobs.
- Handle all customer complaints.
- Keep abreast of new equipment and tools available and recommend purchases.
- Ensure that work areas and customer waiting area are kept clean.
- Follow up on parts department orders to ensure parts availability.
- Collect accounts receivable for repair work.
