The Manager, Fan Development & Marketing is responsible for driving the marketing department's efforts to cultivate the next generation of lifelong fans for the Brooklyn Nets, and strengthen brand affinity with all fan segments. The role will strategically identify ways to grow and diversify our fan base and successfully execute thoughtful, best-in-class brand experiences & activation. The individual will be responsible for implementing hyper-local programs with an emphasis on grassroots and youth marketing, with the goal of cultivating long-term fan relationships.
The Manager will help set north star strategy for consistently engaging fans and identify key priorities to rally the organization around that strategy. The role will oversee and scale initiatives that strengthen the bond between the team and the Brooklyn Nets fanbase, in close collaboration with the Community Relations and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) teams.
JOB DESCRIPTION – WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Craft and implement best-in-class marketing programs to nurture lifelong fans of the Nets
- Develop, lead, and execute the organization's youth marketing strategy to foster the next generation of fans, including creating new access points to interact with the brand
- Liaise with Community Relations and DE&I teams to co-create strategy and activation around key platforms that deepen relationships with and engage target audiences locally
- In alignment with the Community and DE&I teams, build the Nets grassroots marketing strategy, to nurture meaningful relationships with local businesses & community organizations
- Support core youth basketball partnerships and amplify accessibility programming across city and community events, festivals, parks, schools, etc.
- Lead marketing efforts and amplify programming around our Nets Unite platforms including Hoops for Troops, MLK Day, Chinese New Year, Black History Month, Noche Latina, Women's Impact, AAPI Heritage & Pride
- Serve as the end-to-end manager of fan engagement programs, such as The Block
- Work closely with Marketing Analytics and Business Intelligence teams to understand fan segments and analyze the efficacy of fan development programs
- Establish goals, track budget spending and measure ROI of initiatives
- Develop insightful recaps and reporting that synthesize results and make recommendations on how to best optimize programs over time
- Support other BSE Global properties including the Long Island Nets, NetsGC and Barclays Center, as appropriate
CANDIDATE PROFILE – WHO YOU ARE:
- 5-7 years of experience working in fan development, youth marketing, grassroots marketing and/or community engagement
- Experience working with brands and programs focused upon the youth space a major plus
- Understand what it takes to build trust and cultivate relationships with consumers over time
- A highly collaborative, adaptable team player with the capacity to excel in a fast-paced environment
- Capable of bringing ideas from conception, to execution, to scale
- A self-starter with a positive, can-do attitude and solutions-based approach
- Skilled in nurturing meaningful, trust-based internal & external relationships
- Proficient in process and project management: planning, building structure and executing a strategic vision on deadline and with attention to detail
- An excellent written and verbal communicator, including presentation capabilities
- Significant knowledge of industry trends and ability to serve as a subject area expert
- Bachelors degree is required
Work Environment
Works primarily in an office environment. You will be expected to attend games and other events on evenings, weekends and holidays.
