Role and Responsibilities
Sample Analysis - Performs assigned sample determination utilizing various (GC, GC/MS, AA, ICP, ICPMS, IC, or HPLC) techniques, in accordance with standard operating procedures, including analysis, data evaluation, and reporting, ensuring that all method required quality control protocols be met.
Analytical duties may include:
- Reviewing sample work list and scheduling daily work, maintaining regular laboratory turn-around time including priority sample scheduling.
- Preparing samples according to standard operating procedures.
- Preparing calibration and quality control standards.
- Perform analytical steps in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Record quality control standards preparation, weight of samples, dilutions, spiked sample preparations, and analytical sequences in the appropriate logbooks/Element.
- Review results to verify that minimum quality control requirements are met, calculate results, and report results in Element.
- Submit raw data packages for approval, according to department procedures.
- Maintain quality control charts, as required by each method.
- Report analytical results and quality control data in a manner that maximizes efficiency.
- Maintain equipment:
- Maintain instrumentation and equipment on a regular basis.
- Notify technical services and department supervisor when equipment failure occurs, or when major maintenance is required.
- Document all maintenance in appropriate logbooks.
Supplies:
- Ensures there is sufficient supply of consumables, including reagents, standards, disposable items, and service parts.
- Orders all required items through the supply ordering process.
- Documentation used (when applicable):
- Standards log book for calibration standard preparation, spiking and surrogate solutions, etc.
- Method Run (sequence) logs
- Sample preparation/extraction logs
- Instrument maintenance logs
- Media logs
- Refrigerators, freezers and incubators temperature logs.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university in Chemistry or related Science field
- 0-5 years’ experience
Salary : $62,000 - $78,600
