What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intern, Events and Operations position at BSR?
Position Overview
BSR is looking for a full-time intern to join our Engagement team in Paris in September 2024.
As part of BSR Paris and the wider global team, you will work closely with BSR staff to support our activities in EMEA. You will support the leadership in their operations as well as plan, manage, and execute various events with, for, and between BSR’s member companies. You will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the areas of event project management, process building, and various operational tasks as required.
Responsibilities
The intern will have the opportunity to gain experience in the following areas:
Events & Communications
- Event coordination: Support BSR leadership in the delivery of high-quality events across France and the United Kingdom. Engage with external and internal stakeholders to ensure effective event execution.
- Research and analysis: Support the Europe-based Engagement Coordinator on the research and analysis of external event engagement and communications opportunities. Support research by aligning findings with BSR’s organizational strategy.
- Writing and communications: Support the development of event marketing deliverables including PowerPoint presentations, invitations, and internal agendas, in addition to other communications materials as required.
- Contact management: Support the cleaning process of contact lists in BSR’s CRM tools.
Operations
- Collaboration support: Provide administrative, communications, and technical support to BSR’s Consumer Sectors related collaborations.
- Administrative support: Work closely with the Paris Office Management team on various administrative tasks including but not limited to expense reports, in-office events (both internal and external), and scheduling.

A successful candidate will have had previous experience in event planning as well as the following demonstrated behavioral attributes:
- Comfortable with an evolving scope. As a new role at BSR, priorities for this position will evolve based on business need with relation to the events and communications pipeline.
- Able to navigate competing priorities with ease. We are looking for someone with experience in managing varying expectations of both internal and external stakeholders.
- Research and analytical skills. An ability to support claims through evidence-based research. Important to be able to translate these findings into a compelling narrative.
Qualifications
Internship candidates should be fluent in French and English, and have a strong interest in communications, events, and operational processes. In addition, candidates should be interested in furthering BSR’s mission to create a just and sustainable world.
Internship candidates must be enrolled in a graduate/Master program, preferably in Communications/Marketing/Event Management, at a European institution and must be eligible to receive a Convention de Stage for the internship.
The internship is full-time for a period of six months starting September 2024. BSR offers interns a monthly recognition stipend.
The applicant should be available full-time, starting in September 2024 for the duration of six months, and meet most of the following criteria:
- Education at a European institution. Must be enrolled in a relevant graduate/Masters program at a European institution and be eligible to receive a Convention de Stage.
- Experience: Strong interest in communications, events and business operations in France and the United Kingdom. Previous experience implementing events from ideation to execution is considered a plus.
- Skills: The candidate should have exceptional organization, communication, research, presentation, facilitation, and interpersonal skills. The candidate should be service-minded.
- Technical expertise: Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel) required; graphic design skills are highly desirable.
- Languages: Fluent in French and English is a requirement
