BTS Biogas is a pioneer and one of the largest providers of Anaerobic Digestion (AD) technology globally. By seeing challenges as opportunities, BTS uses AD to recycle organic waste into two products very important to our future - renewable energy and organic soil conditioners. We develop facilities that offer true sustainable alternatives in energy, agriculture, and waste management.
The core expertise of the company is in design, construction, maintenance and operation of these AD plants. A team of engineers, biologists, technicians and other specialists offer O&M services, consultation and support for biogas power plants from 25kW to 2 MW . Activities are well underway on our first two AD plants in the US with our sister company, Bioenergy Devco LLC.
The role:
BTS is pursuing a part-time Health and Safety advisor with emphasis on processes in the anaerobic treatment of solid waste, gas phase management, and wastewater sectors working on an ad-hoc basis. This candidate will be knowledgeable in industrial material handling and personnel safety. Knowledge of OSHA, NIOSH, NFPA, NEC, AWWA and API codes as well as State and local regulations are beneficial. Membership in ASSP, CIH certification or other recognized designation that demonstrates dedication to safety is a plus.
Candidate will be responsible for:
- developing and leading the implementation of safety, health and environmental policies and procedures, including safety plans and site rules.
- setting standards and programs to which others will be held responsible and accountable
- communicating and coordinating activities effectively with the Safety Committee and people at all levels of the organization
- ensuring compliance with federal, state and local regulations pertaining to health, environmental and safety standards
- interfacing with regulatory agencies and assisting during regulatory inspections
- staying up to date on changes to federal, state, and local safety and environmental laws and regulations
- reviewing and interpreting data from accident and loss event reports and other appropriate sources to identify root causes, trends and prevention
- assisting with regulatory reports and compliance
The candidate must be within commuting distance of Jessup, Maryland to attend site meetings although remote working is welcome.
This is a part-time temporary role that could become permanent in future for the right candidate.
