What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wine Consultant position at Bubbles Liquor World?
General Purpose of Position:
A retail wine consultant or sales associate is a wine-knowledgeable individual who assists Bubbles Liquor World in providing friendly and efficient service to customers in the selection of wine. A wine consultant promotes sales by assisting customers with suggestions and recommendations for food pairings. A wine consultant also ensures that products are stocked and attractively displayed and may assist in wine tastings. Other duties may pertain in assisting other areas of the store but ultimately the best wine consultant is one who goes out of their way to may sure that customers in the store are engaged and taken care of.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Ensure that each customer receives outstanding service by providing a friendly environment, which includes greeting and acknowledging every customer, maintaining outstanding standards, suggesting wine to customers, solid product knowledge and all other aspects of customer service.
- Ensure the safety and well being of our store and community by adhering to our ‘Step One’ program.
- Attend wine training seminars as they are brought up by management
- Assist in staff training
- Conduct wine classes and tastings
- Maintain an awareness of all promotions and advertisements.
- Communicate customer requests to management.
- Any other tasks as assigned from time to time by any manager.
Skills and Competencies:
- Ability to communicate with customers and other employees
- Must have a knowledge of the history and geography of wine
- Must have some technical awareness of Viticulture, (growing grapes)
- Must have some technical awareness of Viniculture, (making wine)
- Must have knowledge of the wine market within the store
- Must have knowledge of wine and food compatibility and matching
- Must have a good nose and palate to distinguish and discern wine aroma, flavour, character
Requirements:
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and to move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures throughout the store, which entails lifting, and perform all functions as set forth above
- Ability to work varied hours/days, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $22.00 per hour
