What are the responsibilities and job description for the Police Officer position at Bucksport Police Department?
The Town of Bucksport is accepting applications to fill an anticipated opening for a full-time Patrol Officer with the Bucksport Police Department.
The Town of Bucksport is a rapidly growing community with a population of approximately 5,000 and a Police Department that provides 24-hour coverage, 7 days a week. The Bucksport Police Department is a team oriented, dedicated agency that has a strong belief in family, community policing and community involvement.
The Bucksport Police Department has a full-time Communication Center, a K-9 program, a School Resource Officer, Firearms Instructor, Taser Instructor, and encourages additional Officer certifications and training.
Applicants shall be at least 21 years of age unless the applicant has an associate’s degree or 60 credit hours of post-secondary education in which case the applicant must be at least 20 years of age. Unless an applicant is currently enrolled in an accredited post-secondary educational program, has completed 40 credit hours, and the applicant is at least 19 years of age. The applicant must have passed the MCJA alert test, possess a valid driver’s license and have no criminal record or serious motor vehicle history.
Successful candidates will be required to pass an oral interview, extensive background investigation, polygraph, psychological and medical examination. They will also have to meet the minimum standard fitness requirements of the State Criminal Justice Academy. Full time certified Law Enforcement Officers are exempt from having to meet the minimum standard physical fitness requirements of MCJA.

Salary will vary per qualifications, experience and years of service. Lateral transfers and sign on bonuses are available ($25.46 - $33.42).
