Budge Industries, LLC is looking to hire several Sewers for 2nd Shift (3:30p - 12:00a, Monday through Friday) at our Henderson, KY manufacturing and shipping plant. Previous experience is not required as on-the-job training will be provided. The primary function of the 2nd Shift Sewer is to join those pieces of fabric or material that make up a car cover, boat cover, etc.
The essential responsibilities and duties of the position are listed below, but other duties may be assigned:
- Sets up sewing machine and gathers needed supplies according to product specifications and/or as directed by supervisor or lead
- Operates various sewing machines at the direction of the departmental supervisor
- Quality checks 1 out of every 10 covers produced
- Notes on production sheets any material defects or sewing errors
- Repairs sewing errors as needed
- Performs preventive maintenance on machine to include oiling and cleaning and updates preventive maintenance tracking sheet
- Completes daily production report
- Reports any issues with sewing machines, sewing supplies, etc. to supervisor
- Maintains good housekeeping in and around the sewing areas
- Performs other duties as assigned
Skills (not required but would be useful)
- Prior experience in a manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of various sewing machines to include sergers, single needle sewing machine, double needle sewing machine, sonic bond sewing machine and elastic cover stitch sewing machine
- Understanding of production procedures
- Adherence to health and safety regulations
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English effectively
- Analytical skills
- Attention to detail
- Physical strength and stamina - frequent walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching and lifting up to 10 pounds
- Basic math to include addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals and units of measure
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 per hour
