Buena Vista University invites applications for the Director of the Graduate Program in Organizational Leadership. The Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership program is a 30-credit-hour, online program with 4 track options. The director teaches courses within the program and is also responsible for a range of administrative duties. This is a full-time, off-sight, tenure-track assistant, or associate professor position with a 12-month contract. Courses are offered in an 8-week, online format, with 6 terms per year. Directors have a 5/6 course load with a release from teaching during one term annually. In addition to teaching courses in the program, the director is responsible for program oversight; hiring, mentoring, and evaluating faculty; scheduling and assigning faculty to courses; participating in assessment and program improvement; and admitting, mentoring, and advising students through program completion. The director is assisted by the Director of Graduate Programs.
Qualifications
Candidates must possess an earned doctorate in communication, leadership studies, or a closely related field. Candidates must provide evidence of successful teaching in an online format. Experience in personnel and budgetary management, as well as curriculum oversight and development are desirable. A successful candidate must demonstrate support for the university’s mission, strong interpersonal skills, and an ability to work collaboratively. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational, assessment, presentation, and communication skills, and must demonstrate effective leadership, strategic planning, writing, and intercultural skills.
