Job Summary And Mission
The General Manager contributes to Buff City Soap’s success by leading a team to create and maintain the Buff City Soap Experience for our clients. The General Manager is required to regularly exercise discretion in managing the overall operation of the store. A majority of time is spent supervising and directing the workforce, making staffing decisions (i.e., hiring, training, evaluating, disciplining, discharging, staffing and scheduling), ensuring client satisfaction and quality of client experience, ensuring production and par levels are met, monitoring and conducting product quality control, monitoring and motivating staff to achieve performance goals, handling minor maintenance issues, ensuring the cleanliness of your store, and managing safety and security within the store. The General Manager is responsible for modeling and acting in accordance with Buff City Soap principles.

- Drives company metrics by developing action plans. Directly motivates and instructs the salon team by implementing company SOP’s.
- Manages with integrity and honesty and promotes the culture, values and mission of Buff City Soap.
- Plans, identifies, communicates, and delegates responsibilities to team members to ensure smooth flow of operations.
- Provides coaching and direction to the team to achieve operational goals. Constantly reviews store environment and key metrics to identify problems, concerns, and opportunities for improvement.
- Directly responsible for cleanliness, maintenance, and organization of the store (General Managers are required to clean, maintain, and produce product).
- Manages store staffing levels to ensure employee development and maintain store operational requirements.
- Hires, trains, develops, and coaches Assistant Management.
- Identifies and prioritizes communications and uses discretion to filter communications to the store team. Communicates clearly, concisely, and accurately.
- Constantly develops and communicates production plans that are driven by par levels and sales of product.
- Manages party scheduling, planning, and execution.
- Manages fundraising and community events.
- Plays a key role in driving social media platforms in the community.
- Grassroots marketing to area business to drive foot traffic in the store for events.
- Will follow inventory and ordering SOPs to ensure inventory levels are accurately maintained.
- Adherence to applicable wage and hour laws for nonexempt team members and minors.
- Uses all operational tools to plan for and achieve operational excellence in the store. Tools include labor guidelines, reports, cash management, production pars, and inventory management.
- Utilizes financial reports to identify and address trends and issues in store performance.
- The General Manager is required to work a 5-day workweek of 45 hours per week (minimum), including two mid or closing and weekend shifts each week.
- During peak season, the General Manager may be required to work mid/closing and Saturday shifts (October 1 – February 1).
- Regularly conducting performance assessments, providing feedback, and setting challenging goals to improve sales performance.
