What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bar Administrator position at Buncombe Judicial Bar?
The Buncombe County Bar invites applications for a part-time Bar Administrator. This is a professional position with significant responsibility leading and managing the mandatory 40th Judicial District Bar, also known as the Buncombe Bar. The Bar Administrator evaluates and develops strategies to support the 800 attorney members of the district, and maintains an excellent working relationship with the 17-member Buncombe Bar Executive Committee, assisting the committee in the development and implementation of budgets, policies and procedures, and managing events and communications. Ideal applicants will have experience in providing clear and solution-oriented guidance to non-profit or public boards; writing and public relations; special events coordination; development of continuing education; and collaborating with local and state agencies.
Minimum Education, Training or Experience: Bachelor’s degree in related field and experience in management and direction of an organization; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience working with stakeholders across various jurisdictions or organizations is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Ability to balance priorities to accomplish assigned tasks within the required time frame and to be able to shift quickly between several tasks without loss of continuity.
- Knowledge of organization’s office systems, practices, procedures, and administration.
- Knowledge of general office equipment and personal computers to include word processing, spreadsheet, and related software including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office software. (Specifically, Word, Excel and Outlook) as well as the ability to stay current with emerging office technologies.
- Knowledge of WordPress, MailPoet, QuickBooks, Zoom, and survey software.
- Possess solid financial, analytical, business, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to effectively evaluate and process forms; verify data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance within established procedures; enter data into computer system, maintain confidential files and data; identify problems and propose feasible solutions.
- Ability to type, compose and edit correspondence, memos, letters, and reports; revise schedules, forms, reports, records, and other information; prepare statistical information for use in reports.
- Initiate and answer telephone calls; screen and direct calls; direct callers to appropriate outside resources.
- Engage in meaningful and intentional professional development appropriate for areas of responsibility.
Part-time position (20 hours per week). Flexible hours and remote work opportunity, with appearances at in-person events in Asheville, North Carolina. Compensation DOE $27-$29 per hour.
