Overview
An OT & Automation Specialist uses technology to improve, streamline and automate a manufacturing process. They are responsible for planning, implementation, and monitoring such technology.
Responsibilities:
- Explore and implementing new ways to automate systems
- Design and testing automation equipment and processes
- Program new automated components
- Identify quality issues and writing reports
- Eliminate defects and errors with product and software development
- Collaborate with other business units
- Contract and third-party management.
- Definitions related to the infrastructure and architecture of networks together with other areas of the company, aiming at the segregation between IT and OT networks.
- Integration and data communication between the most diverse layers of the network, following applicable cybersecurity protocols.
- Explore and implementing new ways to automate systems
- Design and testing automation equipment and processes
- Program new automated components
- Identify quality issues and writing reports
- Eliminate defects and errors with product and software development
- Support in defining wireless OT network and communication protocols needed to ensure connectivity.
- Interaction with process historians, enabling communications and data for deeper analysis.
- Interaction with different communication protocols (Profibus, OPC UA and DA, Profinet, etc.).
- Support in monitoring projects involving ICS and Industry 4.0 update.
- Work together with industrial and IT teams to deliver scalable and secure solutions.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Engineering, Automation, Computer Science training or extensive industrial automation experience
- Proficiency in maintaining automation equipment
- Experience with robotics, AI and machine learning is an asset
- Experience with PLC systems, preferably based on Rockwell Automation and computer/controls networking is highly desirable
- Experience with project management
- Solid understanding of computer programming and software development.
- Knowledgeable about various Agile methodologies and experienced in coaching Scrum
- Experience working on a collaborative Agile product team
- Strong leadership and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong analytical skills
- A desire to continually upgrade technical knowledge
