Reports To: Kitchen Manager, General Manager
Job Summary: The Grill Cook’s primary area of focus is ensuring all food items are prepared to company standards and completed in a timely manner. Grill Cooks are “multi-tasking experts” who remain calm under pressure. They oversee all food preparation and ensure all modifications are executed well. Ensure kitchens are always clean and safe. The work schedule fluctuates based on business need requiring employees to work days, nights, weekends and holidays.
Essential Functions:
- Prepares all food items to meet company standards and guest expectations.
- Strong comprehension of recipes, intermediate knife and kitchen equipment skills.
- Ensure all kitchen equipment is regularly maintained and operational.
- Successfully reads tickets and times food preparation to ensure top quality.
- Communicates regularly and consistently with the other stations (fry, salad and expo).
- Assists with training new cooks as needed to ensure company standards are met.
- Clean and sanitize work surfaces, utensils and working areas.
- Maintains proper amounts of inventory for all food items needed at each station.
- Assist with supervising food temperature to ensure ingredients are kept at appropriate temperatures and stored properly. Follows “first in- first out” (FIFO) at all times.
- Assist as necessary in receiving, verifying and properly storing food, beverage and supplies.
- Conduct back-of-house opening and closing tasks as required.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years recent experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and fast-paced environment.
- Reliable transportation and ability to arrive to work on time and maintain a positive attendance record.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and evenings.
- Good communication, organization, and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.
- Current Food Handlers Card.
Preferred Skills: High school diploma or GED, strong knife skills, multi-tasker, safety-minded, team player.
Language Skills: Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate effectively and professionally with other business departments, guests, and vendors. Ability to diplomatically deal with difficult situations and people, while exhibiting a consistent level of professionalism.

All Grill Cooks are hired at a starting payrate with the opportunity for merit increases during the performance review process. Starting payrate for the Los Angeles area is $17.65/hour (plus tips).
