- Be a part of the project team and under the supervision of Professional Engineers, performing manhole inspections throughout the City of Akron sewer systems
- Provide knowledge of municipal infrastructure in a real-life application of civil engineering
- Locate manholes using GPS, taking pictures using a tablet, and inspecting for infiltration and cracks are the main goals for this work
- You will be able to gain both field and office experience
- Current student at an accredited college or university working toward bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental or Mechanical Engineering; Civil, Construction or Survey Technology; or equivalent discipline
- Ability to lift manhole covers up to 80 lbs.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Experience with Microsoft Office products required. AutoCAD or ArcGIS experience a plus
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat and work outdoors
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record
- Akron residency is highly preferred
