The Infection Preventionist (IP) is responsible for identifying, investigating, monitoring, and reporting healthcare-associated infections. The IP collaborates with teams and individuals to create infection prevention strategies, provide feedback, and sustain infection prevention strategies.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
B.S.N. Minimum 5 years’ acute care experience and 2 years documented evidence of expertise in Communicable Diseases and nursing research.
License to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
Certification in Infection Prevention and Control and Epidemiology (CIC) preferred, or attainment within 1 year after employment
Must attend Infection Control Committee meeting, responsible for updating and maintaining the Infection Control Manual.
Ability to be self-directing and implement the nursing process.
Knowledgeable in adult teaching/learning methods.
