Founded in 2008, Butter Beans provides nutritious, wholesome meals for charter schools, private schools, and summer camps throughout the New York City and tri-state area. In addition, Butter Beans operates corporate cafeterias and offers catering services at notable institutions like the New York Hall of Science Museum in Queens and UNICEF.
Butter Beans seeks like minded individuals to support our school cafeteria service team. This position of Food Service Supervisor reports to the company’s management.
The work schedule varies from 35 to 40 hours per week and the daily shift times start between 6:00 AM and 8:00 AM, Monday through Friday. The work schedule follows a traditional school schedule, Monday through Friday with the shift ending between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM.
Our team members are off when their schools are closed for holidays or other events. This is a seasonal position with the opportunity to work at one of our activity camps during the summer.

The Butter Beans supervisor role is a key leadership position at our company. This person is responsible for school service operations combined with customer service management. In addition, supervisors directly manage on-site Butter Beans’ team members, assists in training of new employees and is responsible for daily inventory reporting and other production reviews.
The ideal candidate is a proven leader with considerable experience in the food service industry. This person is dependable, punctual, maintains a strong work ethic, is a problem solver, and resourceful.
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
* Previous supervisory experience in food services.
* Previous kitchen and cooking experience.
* REQUIRED: Food Handlers Card from the New York Department of Health with strong understanding of food safety procedures.
* Ability to develop and follow systems and processes to achieve efficient operations.
* Proficient in daily inventory reporting and weekly production review to company standards.
* Maintains strong food presentation and professional environment to Butter Beans standards.
* Ability to maintain a strong customer service environment, including building an effective relationship with school leadership, administration team, etc.
* Fosters a collaborative environment where team members are committed to common goals and each team member is properly supported.
* Able to effectively address performance issues of team members. Comfortable in the mentoring and development of team members.
* Diversity - Shows respect and sensitivity for cultural differences; promotes a harassment-free environment.
*Adapts to changes in the work environment; manages competing demands; changes approach or method to best fit the situation;
* Strong problem solving skills, calm and professional.
* Strong communication skills - verbal and written.

Physical Effort: Work involves light to moderate physical effort such as lifting or moving objects, constant standing, bending and walking. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
