ABOUT THE POSITION
BWA is seeking a qualified individual to serve as a project representative/clerk-of-the-works at active construction sites. The individual will be an employee of BWA but will work at Cambridge Housing Authority (CHA) construction sites under the supervision of both CHA and the Architect for the project. The Architect may or may not be BWA. The position is anticipated to be a long-term commitment. Once the project is completed, we will work with CHA to place you on another assignment.
Responsibilities include the following and as described in AIA B207-2017:
- Maintains daily logs of construction progress, site visitors, problems and resolutions; keeps the Owner and Architect apprised of progress and problems; inspects materials used by contractor.
- Attends job coordination meetings; participates in the review of documents prior to bid (when schedule permits); provides reports from the field regarding how to improve design and materials standards and construction specifications.
- Assists Owner and Architect in reviewing change order pricing and quantities; assists other Clerks as requested.
- Performs other related duties as required by the position.
Minimum qualifications:
- At least 5 (five) years’ experience in building construction as an owners' representative, Clerk of the Works, construction superintendent, architect, or construction project manager required.
- Ability to read plans, specifications, contract requirements, and ability to review and track construction schedules required.
- Knowledge of construction practices related to renewable energy/energy efficiency preferred.
- Experience with projects over $50,000,000 preferred.
- Knowledge of Mass. Building Codes, construction regulations, and statutes regarding generally accepted construction and trade practices preferred.
- Familiarity with public bidding, advertising, and M/WBE requirements preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills preferred.
- Technical degree or certification preferred. Work experience or superintended licensure can serve as an adequate substitution for a formal degree.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.
- Driver’s license required. Access to a personal car for occasional off-site visits preferred.
- Knowledge of Procore is preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 - $55.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
