Headend Technicians keep our communities connected to what matters most. You will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining the headend, hub, and OTN equipment to ensure that our services are of the highest quality. You will also be responsible for installing, monitoring, testing, maintaining and repairing all headend, hub and OTN equipment and ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality analog and digital video, internet and voice signals. What you will do to contribute to the company's success Must spend no less than 50% of work time on headend-related activities. Performs frequent testing and takes action to ensure that the quality of signals in the headend and distribution plan is optimized. Works cooperatively with wide range of teams including digital video, NOC, Customer and Technical Care Centers, RF and IP engineering, operations, purchasing, among others. Serves as liaison to field operations and construction personnel when certifying, maintaining or repairing cable plant. As directed, perform maintenance duties in the RF and fiber plant consistent with duties expected of an Advance Technician. Installs, replaces and removes wiring and equipment to support the launch of new and /or existing services independently or with the direction of other personnel. Assists in the collection and analysis of utilization data and coordinates actions to maintain required capacity levels. Assists the local technical system staff in launches of new technical projects and initiatives, including technical readiness assessment, implementation, post-launch troubleshooting, liaison to vendors, etc. Coaches and instructs system technicians on the use of network performance monitoring and surveillance tools to help them maintain and troubleshoot the overall operation of the video, data and voice networks. Monitors and maintains environmental systems including but not limited to all power systems (UPS, generator, distribution) and air conditioning. Creates and or maintain as built drawings (documentation) outlining what is installed within the facility and or individual rack. Qualifications Must meet all the education/experience requirements of a System Technician and have one-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must successfully complete, within 6 months of accepting position, all Sparklight Technical Training Center Advanced Technician training and related coursework.
