Cache County is looking for a Budget Analyst to join our Finance team.
The Budget Analyst is a full-time benefitted position generally working Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance on the first day of employment, retirement contributions through Utah Retirement System, 14 paid holidays, and 18 days of personal leave in the first year of employment.
Candidates may be considered for Budget Analyst II depending on their qualifications. Pay for the Budget Analyst is $24.00 to $27.36/ hour.
The Budget Analyst will assist in analyzing budget requests, interpreting and applying budget guidelines, assist with the development of the operating and capital budgets for the County; provide analysis, projections, and recommendations for revenues, expenditures, and financial policies; monitor, analyze, and report on State legislation that could impact the County.
As the Budget Analyst, you will compile, review and analyze data submitted by departments and divisions for inclusion in the County's annual budget throughout the budget preparation period; compile, review and analyze data submitted by departments and divisions for inclusion in the County's capital improvement program throughout the CIP preparation period. The Budget Analyst will respond to department and division inquiries regarding budget issues; review and make recommendations regarding department budget proposals; provide training to departments regarding the use of the County's financial system. The Budget Analyst will also develop and maintain budget monitoring models and coordinate the production of quarterly financial reports, including design and development of a variety of queries, macros, and complex spreadsheets from downloaded data; analyze and review budget expenditures and revenue estimates to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations; reconcile actual revenue to budget by account, identifying discrepancies for correction and justifying unusual revenue patterns; compile and track assets for internal and external audit reporting; compile, review and account for grand documentation and reporting; prepare journal entries related to general ledger maintenance and financial reporting; perform all work duties and responsibilities in accordance with County policies and procedures; and perform other duties as assigned.
The Budget Analyst will have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and a minimum of 3 years of experience performing complex governmental budgeting, accounting, and research activities, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
