Job Summary
The Environmental Health and Safety EHS Specialist provides staff level assistance for Field Operations’ application of environmental, health and safety programs in the Piceance Basin. This EHS Specialist will be an essential team member dedicated to the Remediation Program. This position will be focused primarily on assessing soil and water impacts, developing and implementing remediation plans, and developing the required agency reports. This EHS Specialist will be a Project Manager for several remediation projects and will be responsible from the initial report of impact to full closure of the remediation project. This position will be a trusted, go-to resource for the EHS Lead and EHS team members.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide staff level support to the EHS Lead with multiple projects at once.
- Participate in EHS on-call.
- Assist with water quality sampling program, including Form 28 sampling, NPR sampling and COGCC Rule 411 sampling.
- Develop, operate, and maintain new and existing remediation systems.
- Perform remediation project management and contractor oversite.
- Conduct environmental excavation oversight and make decisions involving the sampling and removal of impacted soil.
- Participate in annual compliance inspections.
- Assist with collecting quarterly North Parachute Ranch water samples.
- Assist with the management of E&P waste.
- Assess soil and water during and after spills and releases occur.
- Compose spill, release, and investigation reports to be submitted to State and Federal agencies.

Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree or an advanced degree in environmental engineering, environmental sciences, or a similar technical degree field
Specialized knowledge
- 2-4 years of specific experience in Remediation Project Management of soil and or water.
- Have strong knowledge of COGCC, CDPHE and Federal regulatory environmental and safety compliance issues, specifically recordkeeping and reporting requirements. Knowledge of all regulations affecting safety in the workplace, including those promulgated by or under OSHA, DOT, state oil and gas commissions, and local fire departments.
- Basic analytical skills, capable of identifying trends in data. Data manipulation and understanding of HSE management system(s).

- Problem Solving: Identify work flow issues and recommend innovative solutions.

Industry Experience
- 4-7 years progressively escalating technical experience in Environmental, Health and Safety compliance.
- Specific experience within the oil and gas industry in the Rocky Mountain Region is preferred.
- Ability to relate and interact productively with EHS professionals within the oil and gas industry in the Piceance Basin.
- Ability to review new and changing regulations and advise operations on methods for compliance.
Other Requirements
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must pass drug screening prior to employment
Working conditions
- The environment in which the job is performed, especially any unique conditions outside a normal office environment.
- 60% Normal field office environment and 40% field work. Worker is subjected to weather elements and worker must be accustomed to performing tasks in potentially adverse conditions.
- This position requires regular travel in the field by vehicle and hiking.
Compensation and Benefits
- Annual Salary Range
- $90,000 - $110,000
