Overview:
The CAES Missile Systems line of business is recruiting a Capture Director to develop and win new business with Defense Prime customers with priority focus in the US. This is a key business growth role reporting directly to the CAES Missile Systems VP of Advanced Technology and Growth. This full-time position is based in San Jose, CA, collocated with the CAES Missile Systems Division, with an expectation of 25% travel. The Capture Director will maintain the highest standards of business and technical acumen, performance excellence and integrity. Job duties include active engagement across the division to help define the organizations short and long-term operational and strategic growth goals, organize and lead capture efforts, and develop relationships with customers to identify new business opportunities.

The ideal candidate has a background in microelectronics and subsystems embedded in DoD critical systems and platforms as well as experience developing business in the aerospace and defense market. This individual will have a proven track record of customer facing and people leadership skills, and will have demonstrated ability to work across functions to drive positive business results.

The Capture Director is an important growth agent for the division. The successful candidate will have an existing positive relationship with industry primes, particularly with CA based aerospace and defense primes, and an understanding of their business goals.
Responsibilities:
Major Duties & Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include the identification of new business opportunities, market research, development of capture strategies and leading the preparation of proposals to customers. Accountable for orders generation, forecasts, development and execution of capture strategy for assigned market area. Ability to establish, build and maintain relationships. Ability to obtain insights from customer contacts, understand customer challenges and requirements and work to solve problems. Target pursuits where existing CAES solutions add value and where IR&D and CAES design capabilities can be applied to create business. Partner with Engineering to ensure that technology roadmaps are in line with emerging customer needs, requirements and investments. Coordinate activities to obtain market intelligence and competitive data for targeted pursuits. Champion customers, innovation and investment that drive new business growth.

Qualifications:
Minimum:
  • BS or MS in Engineering or Business-related field 12 years’ experience in leading multi-discipline engineering development teams in one of the Tier -1 Aerospace and Defense Primes or United States Government Services.
  • Experience with electronics design & manufacture, relevant market/customer acumen, and strong product and technology expertise
  • Experience in driving business processes, practices, and measures of performance and proven track record with continuous improvement achievements
  • Business and Technical acumen, including a track record of enabling business success through engineering performance results, including responsibility for budgets, schedules, cost estimates, resource planning, and proposals
  • 8 years of demonstrated ability to lead progressive changes with strong change agent, mentoring and personnel development skills
  • Experience interfacing directly with customers on complex program challenges
  • Active DoD Secret clearance
Preferred:
  • Engineering degree and business degree
  • Experience working in Sales Force
  • Experience leading development of microwave products for radar and EW applications
  • Experience managing engineering at the site level
  • Experience in program management, business development or capture management
  • Experience working in and driving results in a matrix organization
Salary Range: $210,000 - $265,000 annually. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well business results.
