Position Summary
The Workforce Development Specialist will play a pivotal role in the successful integration of African immigrants and refugees into their new communities. Their passion, dedication, and expertise will directly contribute to the realization of the Center's mission and vision.
The Workforce Development Specialist will be responsible for managing and maintaining the Workforce One case management system. The primary goal is to ensure compliance with MN Statute 116L.98 and to provide accurate, up-to-date data for program participants. This role requires diligence in data entry, timely communication, and a commitment to the success of the grant’s objectives.
This is a full-time, non-exempt position that reports to the Workforce Development Supervisor.
Salary: $25.00 per hour

Duties & Responsibilities
- Workforce One Management:
- Ensure complete and accurate data entry for all participants in the Workforce One system within 15 business days of the participant application date.
- Update and maintain current Workforce One data throughout the grant contract period. This includes entering all case notes, activities, credentials, employment data, etc. within the mandated time frame.
- Ensure consistent data accuracy and integrity in Workforce One, abiding by set guidelines and standards.
- Training and Onboarding:
- Attend and actively participate in grantee onboarding training within the first 60 days of contract execution.
- Reporting & Communication:
- Prepare and submit a detailed quarterly narrative, highlighting the progress of the grant, due by the 30th day following the quarter’s end.
- Actively participate in periodic check-in meetings (30, 60, 90 days) with the ACP Grant Coordinator.
- Contribute to evaluation and data collection endeavors that measure the initiative's impact.
- Submit monthly Reimbursement Payment Request Forms (RPRs) or Financial Status Reports (FSRs) to the designated DEED contact. Ensure the accurate reflection of actual grant expenditures and obligations.
- Compliance and Policy Adherence:
- Strictly adhere to state and federal requirements and policies, including (but not limited to) Federal Regulations, DEED policies, State Statutes, Uniform Guidance, and the Office of Grants Management Policies.
- Remain updated on any policy or guideline changes to ensure full compliance.
- Community Liaison: Foster and maintain robust ties with community organizations, local businesses, and other stakeholders to broaden the network of opportunities for clients.
- Advocacy and Outreach: Advocate for clients’ needs within the community, raising awareness about the challenges faced by African immigrants and refugees, and ensuring that the organization remains at the forefront of addressing these challenges.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
- Previous experience with Workforce One or similar case management systems is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
- Proficient in reporting and data analysis.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
- Multilingual in English and Somali or another African language preferred.
