MRF Equipment Operator

POSITION SUMMARY

The MRF Equipment Operator is responsible for operating equipment in a safe, appropriate, and effective manner. The equipment operator will include a front-end loader, forklift, aerial lift, baler, and other pieces of equipment. The Equipment Operator must also clean, maintain and secure all equipment. Training for specific equipment and processes will be provided, though vehicle operation experience is required. Class A license a plus.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Operate a variety of equipment (front end loaders, forklifts, aerial lifts, baler) in the processing of recyclable materials which are delivered to the MRF

· Transfer solid waste material from truck to truck

· Must operate the equipment in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the risk of injury and , property damage.

· Operate a two-way radio to communicate with and receive instructions from a supervisor and communicate with others

· Must work independently and is expected to maintain a schedule of work

· Perform daily safety and maintenance checks on equipment – monitoring fluid levels, checking for leaks, vehicle lighting, tire pressure etc. and advise the shop of any requirements for maintenance or repairs

· Must be able to write inspection reports and read instructions

· Clean and maintain equipment as scheduled and/or required

· Ensure equipment is safely and securely stored

· Perform other related duties as assigned

· The Equipment Operator is a physically demanding job. He/she will be operating equipment. The Equipment Operator will operate in different weather conditions including both heat and cold in a safe and effective manner.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS

· Must have experience in operating equipment

· Must have a valid Drivers License

· An Equipment Operators Certificate is a plus

· Must successfully complete pre-employment physical, and drug screen and background check

Pay Range

$20.00 - $25.00 per hour
