What are the responsibilities and job description for the Security Officer I position at Calamos Investments?
Primary Responsibilities:
- Monitors employee ingress and egress at access card entry and exit points ensuring that only authorized personnel are allowed into Calamos Properties.
- Manages the guest/visitor registration system and ensures that all visitors to Calamos Properties are checked in and referred to their destinations in a timely, polite and professional manner.
- Actively engages in the performance of duties and assignments and in the accomplishment of the Security Department’s Mission; provides professional SECURITY presence and stands guard and patrols/protects/escorts as assigned and during special events/circumstances.
- Monitors and operates electronic security systems and equipment, including two way radios, cell phones, card access, site monitoring (alarm) and surveillance systems (CCTV).
- Generates regular security logs and incident reports.
- Responds, evaluates and effectively resolves/mitigates incidents/emergencies that occur on Calamos Properties through self preparedness; activation and collaboration with the ERT, notification and cooperation with Public Safety Resources, including Police and Fire personnel, EMTs.
- Facilitates and assists in the building evacuation training program.
- Assists Building Response Teams in times of emergency.
- Conducts physical checks of Calamos Properties on foot or while on Mobile Patrol to identify threats, risks, and vulnerabilities. Prevents problems/solves problems in the moment; identifies solutions, makes recommendations to proactively safeguard people, property, assets and the Company.
- Manages the physical security of the loading dock, receiving area and storerooms. Confirms and logs inbound/outbound deliveries and shipments.
- Works as required/when necessary including on varying shifts; days, nights, weekends and holidays as needed to fulfill the responsibilities outlined above.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
- High school graduate required.
- Previous experience in law enforcement, security or military is preferred.
- Must be able to read and write English fluently.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to license with the State of Illinois as a Security Officer.
- Must have certifications in first-aid and CPR or the ability to obtain these certifications.
- Must be able to physically carry out the job responsibilities listed above. Must be able to lift at least 35 pounds, be able to sit or stand for lengthy periods of time and work in various temperatures.
