Service Center Philadelphia - Frankford Job Summary The Body Tech TAP 1:1 Trainer is responsible for training and developing teammates in the Technician Apprentice Program to within a Non-Structural Technician level in collision repair, capable of working on their own upon graduation from the program, while maintaining or increasing pre-TAP productivity. Essential Job Duties Deliver instructional and hands-on training in collision repair to participants in the Technician Apprentice Program Provide daily supervision, direction, training, and individual coaching for improvement to TAP apprentices Maintain or increase pre-TAP productivity levels while training TAP apprentices Follow established TAP curriculum/competencies to promote consistency throughout the program Schedule competency training to ensure apprentice training is completed in approximately 10-12 months Ensure all competencies and lessons from the detailed apprentice competency guide, including I-Car Welding certification, are completed prior to apprentice graduation Communicate with GM/RM/Quality team to ensure that all competency lessons that must be inspected by the Quality team, as designated on the apprentice competency guide, are verified by Quality prior to apprentice graduation Ensure apprentices complete all required online I-Car classes listed on the apprentice competency guide prior to apprentice graduation Participate in scheduled calls/meetings/communications as required to update apprentice progress with field leadership and/or TAP coordinators so that Workday competency tracking is accurate and timely Maintain the TAP production area by keeping it clean and organized and report safety hazards or required repairs to the facility GM immediately Demonstrate the appropriate use of PPE per Caliber safety policies and require trainees to maintain use of all required PPE for the task and work environment Train apprentices in quality repairs utilizing OEM and industry-approved guidelines and Caliber’s Standards of Quality Perform other related duties to ensure quality and timely completion of repair jobs and further apprentice learning Skills/Requirements To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required Must be at least 18 years of age Must have a valid driver’s license and be eligible for coverage under Caliber’s insurance policy (Not an excluded driver) Satisfactory completion of a criminal background check Comply with all safety requirements, respirator safety, and fitment/usage. Maintain compliance to pass required safety mask fit test Has at least 5 years of prior experience as a collision repair technician Has a documented history of performing high-quality repairs to above-industry standards using approved techniques and required corrosion protection? Has a proven track record of high-efficiency production with a consistently low return rate Can perform repairs using MAG/MIG welding, STRSW (spot) welding, stud welding, and panel bonding Has a valid I-Car welding certificate Can operate frame measuring and pulling equipment and accurately restore vehicle structural dimensions Ability to replace weld-on panels like quarter panels, rear body panels, door skins and radiator supports, etc. Understands how to read and follow OEM or other industry-approved repair procedures Ability to effectively train apprentices in a patient, caring, positive, and upbeat manner. Is approachable Ability to recognize apprentice concerns or training difficulties and modify training techniques to accommodate them.
