PARK AIDE (SEASONAL) ($15.68 - $17.95) - SAN LUIS OBISPO COAST DISTRICT/ COASTAL SECTOR
This position works under the supervision of the Supervising State Park Peace Officer (Ranger) and general direction of the State Park Peace Officers (Rangers). The incumbent is responsible for the operational needs of the kiosk and visitor services duties within the South Coastal Sector visitor services program. The reporting locations for this position are Morro Bay State Park Campground and Morro Strand State Beach Campground.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Meet and greet the general public
- Register campers
- Disseminate information about the park rules and regulations
- Operate a motor vehicle
- Handle reservations
- Effectively communicate with other park staff
- Managing operating funds
- Make the correct change for customers
- Prepare accurate records of daily transaction activities
- Maintain various accountable documents
- Operate an electronic cash register
- Successfully prepare campground reservation information using computer software
- Issue refunds
- Troubleshoot problems with reservations
- Maintain a clean workspace
- Post updated bulletins
- Raise and lower flags as appropriate
Physical Abilities:
- Moderate physical activity; walking, standing, sitting, kneeling, squatting, bending, twisting, lifting, carrying, reaching
- May be required to work under stressful conditions
- Talking, seeing, and hearing are essential to performing the job requirements
- Common eye, hand, and finger dexterity is required for most essential functions
Cognitive Abilities:
- Read, understand, and follow safety procedures
- Understand written and verbal communication
- Add, subtract, multiply, in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
Knowledge:
- Communicate at a level required for successful job performance

State housing is not available.
