Description
CALM has an immediate opening for a Mental Health Specialist. The Mental Health Specialist works with children and families in the home and in the community to promote positive parenting, prevent child abuse and neglect, and facilitate optimal child development. Using a bio-psycho-social approach, the Mental Health Specialist works to reduce vulnerabilities and promote protective factors in the child, the family, and the community. The Mental Health Specialist partners with families to meet their goals by providing behavioral interventions, skill building strategies and case management to help the family access natural supports and resources.
Major Responsibilities:
· Provide psychoeducation and parenting support to bolster protective factors and mitigate the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences.
· Meet with families regularly and consistently to encourage and support meeting treatment plan goals.
· Maintain cooperative working relationships with clients, parents, and families.
· Complete screenings to assess client and their families’ strengths and needs.
· Provide consistent client care and address issues of engagement to ensure continuity of services.
· Provide developmentally appropriate and culturally responsive interventions.
· Coordinate with other agencies and affiliates when appropriate to help family with concrete needs and other supports.
· Maintain expected caseload.
· Maintain clinical productivity standards.
· Complete all documentation in a timely manner and according to agency policy.
· Attend trainings and conferences as needed or required by program manager.
· Participate in community education and outreach.
· Participate in regular administrative and clinical supervision, and agency-wide/program meetings.
· Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and serve as a liaison between families, health care providers, and community-based organizations when applicable.
Requirements
Education and/or Experience:
· BA Degree in related field from an accredited university or college preferred with one year experience, or Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education from an accredited university with experience working in a mental health setting
· Masters Degree in related field desirable

· Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively collaborate in a positive manner
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. Able to prioritize competing responsibilities, with effective time management skills
· Flexibility to accommodate evening appointments as needed
· Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
· Must have a valid California driver’s license, clean DMV record and criminal record clearance from the DOJ
CALM Compensation and Benefits:
Our benefits package includes a competitive salary with hourly compensation ranging from $22 to $32 per hour dependent on experience and education.
